Darth & Andy’s Great Loop Adventure  

What started as a dinner conversation with friends who asked Darth if he could transport their boat from PNW to Florida, turned into questions of why, when, how and where.  This introduced Darth to the idea of boating The Great Loop, a 6,000 mile adventure on the coastal and river waterways of Eastern North America.  After reading books and also watching YouTube clips from folks who were on or had completed The Great Loop, Darth was hooked on the idea.  

Being from the Northwest, we continually spotted the Ranger Tug boats and for three years we ‘stalked’ them.  We even attended a Tug Rendezvous without a boat to learn more from folks who are known as ‘Tugnuts’. We had very little experience so before purchasing, we chartered a Ranger Tug 31’ for a week.  We were humbled by our lack of knowledge but together we found complete enjoyment and satisfaction in boating as a team. Our motto:  ‘no push no shove’ and ‘we all come back’!  

Fast forward four years, we now have a Ranger Tug 29’ CB (Command Bridge). Our goal is to start the loop in the Fall of 2023.  We plan to document and share photos for family and friends as we begin our Great Loop adventure.
